La Gloria Cubana Criollo de Oro features a wrapper that is a genetic cross between Criollo ’98 and Pele de Oro tobacco varietals. The line was the result of cross-pollinating Criollo ’98 and Pelo de Oro seeds which were then planted in Mao, an area of the Dominican Republic with a microclimate well-suited for tobacco. Dubbed Criollo de Oro, the sungrown wrapper is draped over a Connecticut broadleaf binder and a mix of Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers.
